How wire parts hold together
Resources
Wire rarely stands alone in a product; it joins to other wire, to sheet metal or to the assembly around it. The connection gets chosen early, because it changes the part.
Welding joins wire to wire and wire to sheet metal, and it closes rings and hoops into permanent circles.
Threading turns a wire end into a fastener, so a formed part can bolt into place and come apart again for service.
Bent forms do quiet work too: an s-hook joins two parts without any hardware, and a hook formed into the wire hangs the assembly itself.
